Trig.com - is it a MySpace killer?
At the end of last summer, I was invited to try out the new community Trig. And now, at last, the doors are open to the public to take part of it!
What is Trig?
So, what is Trig? To me, it’s a new community who’s out there to compete with the big ones. You can use it just to make friends or try to make a music career and share your music online. In the words of the Trig team:
We want to give you the platform you need, whether you want to be a fashion designer, musician or maybe just looking for new friends and sharing your thoughts with the world, the platform will adapt to you, not the other way around. Originality, Democracy, Revolution. It’s all about you.
What you can do
As with most communities, there are a number of options for you to share whatever you like, and to display information about you. Trig offers:
- Biography
- Friends
- Blog
- Comments
- Gallery
- Tags
- Messages
- The ability to “Trig” things you like to get it a better rating
A totally addictive feature, when you’re logged in to your account, is what’s displayed on your own start page. You get a sort of control panel with lots of interesting information (such as Unread messages/comments/friend requests and Profile views) that you just have to check back on frequently to see just how popular you are and how well it goes.
Together with this there’s a Notifications part in the header letting you know as soon as possible about any incoming message or friend request.
There’s also a nice little gallery section where people can see and comment on your images and watch slideshows.
Live ‘n Direct
Something that I haven’t seen in any other community, at least not presented this way, is the Live ‘n Direct feature. You can get an overview of the latest uploaded songs and images, the latest blog posts and last, but, and this is where it stands out, do an immediate shout that will be published in the Shout BOX.
Is it a MySpace killer?
The big question, I guess, for many communities is if it’s a MySpace killer. While we all know that MySpace is tacky, filled with crap and has very poor code, it is at the same time immensely popular. Trig is cool and looks good, but is it possible to break the spell of MySpace?

Gawd I can’t keep up! How do you decide where to go, who’s safe, and juggle all your friends, and mostly keep up on all those profiles everyone is making at each and every service! And.. there’s so much stuff on all the sites I get confused LOL. Robert, I went to both myspace, and trig.. myspace will definately get bonus points for speedy page delivery.
