Well, it's always some kind of attention, right? :-)

I recently found that one of my articles is found when searching for "creepy things to do to your girlfriend", which is...interesting, and not quite what I was aiming for.

Though I guess we all should be happy that our sites are nowhere to be found when searching for "miserable failure" ;)

Nick,

Ha, interesting!

Tommy,

Ah, that's just great! :-)

Pat,

I don't agree entirely with your opinion, but I blush and say thanks! To be honest, I started writing a book many many moons ago, but then life and lots of other obligations came in the way.

There are about 50 pages lying around just waiting to be continued. :-)

Guilherme,

Well, congrats! And who knows in what mysterious ways Google and their indexing works!

adam,

I guess you have good and well marked up content then! And yes, in my experience, PageRank is very much indeed affected by the frequency of updating.

And thanks! The tooltips are from my GLT library.

Perhaps this post is getting slightly off topic but my site has a page rank of 3 which came as a surprise to me as it only has one inbound link! Feel free to add more ;-)

However, Google seems to 'index' the site quite often, is how often a page is updated a factor in PR?

Great blog, like the tool tips. What library do you use for those?

See ya!

Robert, now that you touched the subject. I am surprised about PR myself. I've been running a blog for about 15 months now.

While I am a seasoned web developer, I'm kind of new to blogging, and it took me about a year to find the right path for it.

I was very surprised to find me on page rank 5 one day.

This is not very impressive, i know. But I was surprised, because, really, my blog is kind of young for that.

Seems I am second on this very generic search on the only article I wrote about sql.

Truly, I'm happy, but I am very curious at the same time.

I see in my logs that quite a few people come to my blog after searching for 'fat sex'. I suppose they are rather disappointed when they find a page in Swedish about when I went to a Mackmyra whisky-tasting event. We tested six ('sex' in Swedish) different whiskies from three types of vats ('fat' in Swedish). :)

Following up: an ask.com search for the letter "a", restricted to "Search UK web pages only", has me at 67. At 66 is Dean Edwards, while at 68 is Stuart Langridge!

So I'm in the best possible company, although it seems a bit weird that three members of the WaSP DSTF should sit in a row on such a ridiculous search.

Thanks guys! :-)

Pat,

Ah, well, who could ever beat Macaroni and Beef? :-)

Emil,

What freaky number can that be?

Ross,

Ha ha ha! That's fantastic!

Guilherme,

Probably not! Since you mention it, the fluctuation of PageRank is very interesting. Up to a couple of weeks ago I had PageRank 7, and currently it's 6 (and I know other bloggers who have got lower ones recently as well).

What's the problem, Google? Even more content? More readers? More links to here? :-)

Jules,

Ha ha! You're welcome! :-)

Martin S.,

Apparently I do. Always the rebel... :-)

Yuck... how disgusting!

Which makes me realize of a good reason why one never should feed our blogs with "keywords" we don't want to be known for, lol...

I guess not many sites have page rank 6 and over with kewords like that. You are the lucky one, you found a promising niche (just joking, of course)
